Transformations in Cultural Communication Conference 2011

Sponsored by Museum 3.0

14-15 April 2011
Melbourne, Australia

Transformations in Cultural Communication offers a unique opportunity to draw together leading researchers and professionals in the field of cultural communication to explore the tangible ways in which social media can engage culturally diverse audiences. It draws on national and international experience in mobile technologies, education, cultural diversity and industry/community partnerships to address cultural diversity beyond the polemics of inclusion. It provides an excellent opportunity to address highly charged and significant questions related to the ways in which cultural organisations encourage audiences to engage in issues related to broad global and civic themes and the ways in which social media will support this cultural exchange.

Please visit the conference website for more details.

Seems like both are quite competitive! There seem to be advantages to both with limited downsides. Thanks Nora and Megan!

I'll have to try Tweetdeck! Thanks for the info Nora.

I love tweetdeck and have become quite dependent on it. It's just an easy platform to stay organized you can have as many list columns as you like (hootsuite limits you), the columns can include search terms, lists made on twitter or on tweetdeck. You also have the option of syncing with facebook, linkedin and foursquare. One of the things I also like about tweetdeck is you can see all your accounts, instead of clicking on each one like on hootsuite. It's also easy to block/report spam on tweetdeck. Their team is also very responsive. I was having some trouble with my tweetdeck and tweeted about it- one of their people help me out with in minutes!

Rebecca-

I haven't tried Tweetdeck yet. I use Hootsuite though. I like it because you can see statistics on what countries your followers are in and how many people have read your messages. You can also schedule messages ahead of time, which is very helpful.

Since they updated Hootsuite, you can also send messages to other forms of social media, such as Facebook. I love this feature because it allows you to post messages to several sites. It also allows you to choose an image when posting to Facebook so that your posts are not "Twitter-like".

Hope this helps!

Hootsuite or Tweetdeck? Any preferences or others? Prefer web based ap, and like bit.lys.
