I hope you are all busy with your green museum projects.  I hope that you'll update the group about what you are working on. This group is also a great resource for asking others in the field how to get started on a green project in your museum. I am also regularly posting links to resources at the top of this page, so keep checking in. Also, let me know what resources I should add, please!

New Certificate Program in Exhibition Design

 

Beginning in the Fall of 2011, The George Washington University in Washington, DC will offer a Graduate Certificate in Exhibition Design.  For more information, check out the website.

Free Exhibition Cases

Dear Friends and Colleagues,

I am trying to find a home for 8 or so large exhibition cases (barely used) which will be available at no cost in a couple weeks. My museum, the Anchorage Museum, has a travelling exhibition on Yup'ik Eskimo culture (Yuungnaqpiallerput: The Way We Genuinely Live) closing this weekend at the National Museum of Natural History in Washington, DC. NMNH is the final venue for this show, and we will not be keeping the exhibition furniture due to a lack of storage space and the expense of return shipping.
The cases were built specifically for this exhibition, and we are donating 30 of them to a small Yup'ik museum in Bethel, AK, but there are at least 8 exhibition cases--pedestal cases with plexi vitrines--some quite large, that are still available. We would be happy to donate them to a museum or organization in the DC area that might have a use for them and could arrange to pick them up some time between August 9 and August 20. If you are with--or know of--an organization that might have use for these cases, please e-mail me asap at rkenny@anchoragemuseum.org. I am overseeing the deinstallation of the exhibition in Washington, and can provide you with more details (including photos) and arrange for you to pick them up.
